The P3010 is an articulated light rail car used on the Los Angeles Metro Rail system manufactured by Kinki Sharyo, operated on all of the Metro Rail light rail lines.

Metro's rapid transit vehicles, used on the B and D lines, are 75-foot (22.86 m) electric multiple unit, married-pair cars, powered by electrified third rail, that typically run in four or six-car consists. To be removed from service for refurbishment.

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority 1001-1235 are light rail vehicles (LRVs) being built by Kinkisharyo International under contract P3010. They will be used to meet the demand of an expanding light rail network as well as eventually replace older vehicles.

The P3010 made by Kinkisharyo is Los Angeles Metro's new Light Rail Vehicle, both to provide new capacity for the new lines (Gold Line to Azusa, Expo Line to Santa Monica, Crenshaw/LAX Line, and Regional Connector) and then to replace older cars that date back to the Blue Line's opening in 1990.

This Resolution grants the request of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for approval of the Safety Certification Plan for its P3010 Light Rail Vehicle procurement dated August 6, 2012.

To improve the system's safety and security, llletro Operations would like to restrict operation of the LRV in ON mode $ 350,000 to certified train operators only.
