Though there isn't much information online about Oxclose Colliery, it is possible to retrieve a few details from the OS and other relevant resources. The Colliery opened pre 1805 which makes it a very old colliery for the area.

Oxclose, Humble's Wagonway to Harraton Outside
Humble’s Waggonway, running from coal pits on Birtley Common to a staith at Fatfield, was established in 1741. By 1754, it was being used by Thomas Donnison to carry coal from South Birtley Colliery.

Oxclose Colliery. This was served by Oxclose Wagonway. Opened before 1805 by George Elliot and Johasshon. Shown on a map of 1807 by D. Akenhead & Sons "The Picture of Newcastle upon Tyne". On 29 November 1805, an explosion killed 38 miners.

1856 - A sinking was put down from the thill of the Hutton Seam at the B Pit, Oxclose Colliery, to the supposed Brockwell Seam, and a boring continued by G. Stott. Please note that this collection of names is by no means complete!
