Creative uses for an owl familiar in combat? - Giant in the …
That said, there are times (e.g. melee-only enemies or out of sight places to end turn) that it's generally safe for an owl familiar to join in the fight. So, the defacto uncreative options are: 1) Fly-by help for 1 advantage attack from 1 ally against 1 enemy 2) PC ready casts touch spell for owl fly-by reaction (requires concentration, which

* Intimidation: Some NPCs ought to be uncomfortable around someone with an owl on their shoulder. * Performance: An owl that understands and obeys you so well could make for quite the entertaining routine. * Persuasion / Deception: Make yourself appear more sympathetic by petting the owl. * Sleight of Hand / Deception: The owl acts as a ...
Celestial, Fey, and Fiend: A Guide to Familiar Keeping
Dec 22, 2015 · Any GM with even modest common sense won't just halve the weights, per Rules_JD's post, but will likely halve them again. If you think a regular owl or a regular bat will carry twenty pounds and still fly, I've got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. It's one thing for there to be magic. It's another to urinate all over the primary world.
Giant Eagle/Elk/Owl: If I Wildshape into one, can I speak Common?

Second, the vaunted AT move is booming blade on a lone melee target and then disengaging out of there. I know it would be easy for the owl to provide advantage in this situation, as long as the owl goes first it flies in, uses help, flies out.

Mage Readies a touch spell and ends their turn. The Owl starts to Flyby. The Mage casts the readied touch spell. The Owl uses its reaction to use the touch spell.
Whose perception to use when seeing through a familiar's eyes?
Mar 10, 2017 · So, for passive perception, while looking through your Owl's eyes, you're looking at an 18 passive perception - I wouldn't allow the player to substitute his Wis or Proficiency bonus, as I'd rule that's also part of his senses, not the owls. 18 is pretty darn good on it's own, and it has a range of 120' in darkness...
Reduced gnome wizard riding his owl familiar. - Giant in the …
An owl has a strength of 3, for a carrying capacity of 45 lbs, halved for being tiny size, or 22.5 pounds (which strikes me as a bit high for an owl, but that’s RAW). So a 5 pound, reduced size gnome is well within the owl’s carrying capacity.

Jul 4, 2017 · The largest owl, the Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) weighs up to 10 pounds, and the most common large owl in North America, the great-horned owl, is half that, topping out at 5 pounds for an exceptionally large individual. I'm told owls can carry a bit more than other raptors.
D&D 5e/Next The Staff of the Familiar - An Owl House Item …
one of the player in my new campaign is a real fan of the Owl House cartoon and would like something like a palisman, one of those familiars/staves that follow the witch/spellcaster for their entire career. Consequently, here is the result of the brainstorming: Staff of the familiar: staff, legacy (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
