Seiko Koba (木場清子 1926-2024), A Master of Oshie Art. Seiko Koba was born in Tokyo, Japan, and in 1952 she began her artistic career studying Oshie art under three well-known masters in the areas of Japanese art and Oshie art: Tekiho Nishizawa, Shuzan Nagai, and Junko Yoshida.

Oct 19, 2022 · Oshie is a traditional craft that originated with the aristocrats of the Edo period. Each picture of portraits, flowers, birds and landscapes is made up of many pieces of paper wrapped in beautiful kimono fabric and padded with cotton, glued together to a three-dimensional raised ornament.

Here is a selection of artwork created by Wendy Christine Duke. Many images began as a photograph, a drawing, or a memory. Translating an image into fabric and found materials is part of the excitement of creating Contemporary Oshi-e. Wendy is still exploring the possibilities this art form offers, even after five decades of investigation.
