Oryx, the Taken King, born Aurash and formerly known as Auryx (meaning "Long Thought" [1]), was the sovereign of the Osmium Throne, the God-King of the Hive, and the master of the Taken.

Taking is only a tool Oryx used to maintain his position. Guardians have other tools, namely the Light and resurrection. We could still become the pinnacle of the Sword Logic without the power to Take if we gather enough power.

Mar 9, 2017 · The first answer that occurred to me was that Guardians’ paracausality protected them much like in the Vault of Glass, but Oryx has been able to Take paracausal brings before - Quria, incidentally a Vex, and Tai Emperor Raven.

Why did Oryx never seek to "take" his most powerful foe, transforming into his most powerful weapon? The Vex, an impossible force that guardians (at this time) can never hope to end, feared Oryx due to being "taken".

Oryx reveals himself to the Guardian, willing into existence the first wave of his army of corrupted Cabal and Hive called the Taken, led by Syrok, Word of Oryx. The Vanguard scrubs the mission and orders the Guardian to return.

Apr 9, 2016 · Oryx fires dark projectiles, summons Taken, and swings his sword at the Guardian. Oryx is defeated, he drops to the floor and reaches for his sword. It is wreathed in a glow resembling that of the Taken.
