In 1987, the Jeep CJ-7 was replaced by the first-generation Jeep Wrangler. Looking very similar and riding on the same wheelbase as the CJ-7, it carried over some important components, including its use of leaf springs.

Dec 15, 2007 · I went from 29 inch to 31 inch which works fine. At 31 inches you need at least 1 inch lift for maximum articulation. if you do mild off-road you won't need a lift. My Jeep has stock 3:31 gears and going to 31 inch did affect the performance but not that much.
