Since gaining full independence from France in 1946, Syria has used a number of different flags, all featuring the pan-Arab colors of green, black, white, and red. Initially a green, white and black triband charged with three red five-pointed stars, known as the Independence flag, was used.

Feb 22, 2025 · In September 1961 Syria revolted, and on 29 September the old flag of Sirya was raised as national flag. This is also tricolor of horizontal stripes, green white and black (stand for Rashid, Ummayad and Abassid dinasties who ruled Sirya in the past).

Mar 29, 1980 · Its flag, based on the Arab Liberation Flag of the Egyptian 1952 revolution, had horizontal stripes of red-white-black with two green stars for the constituent states. The current flag of Syria. It was adopted by President Gamal Abd al-Nasser of Egypt on February 22, 1958 and abrogated by the post-union regime of President Nazim al-Qudsi on September 28, 1961, to completely dislocate Syria from the United Arab Republic (UAR).
