Sep 29, 2024 · The smaller diameter oil filters tend to result in lower oil pressure as well. It's worth a shot. Easier than stripping it apart and putting a standard OEM oil pump back in. My truck is 30 hot idle and 65-70 at highway speeds using 5w20 and the large diameter Mopar filter. My engine is bone stock, never been opened up, with 90,000 miles.

Dec 18, 2018 · Find an Allen head but or socket that will fit the oil pump hex drive. I think a 10mm or possibly a ⅜ will fit but get one that will at least turn it. It doesn't have to be perfect. Put the Allen socket or bit in your drill. Put the oil pump pick-up tube in the oil and slowly turn the pump drive until oil starts to flow out of the top.

Oct 22, 2021 · I did the MMX melling Hellcat oil pump. Keep in mind, the hellcat pumps are designed for engines with the oil squirters so really cranks up the volume and pressure. In fact, it may be TOO high. Oil pressure that's too high can be bad also, it'll take away some horsepower and at extreme conditions/heavy loads can be detrimental for a lot of reasons.

Now, a high volume oil pump, due to the higher flow of oil, will create higher pressures since its now trying to force MORE oil through the same size passages.

Nov 11, 2021 · Everything I could find about changing the oil pump on the 4x4s is ridiculous: drop the front axle, drop the cross member, raise the engine, remove the oil pickup tube and windage tray, all to get out that one stupid bolt holding the tube to the pump. 5.1 hours shop-time if you have a fully stocked shop. Yikes.
