Pours a murky deep amber with a small off-white head. Smells of red wine, vinegar, booze, and a little brown sugar. Doesn't taste as acidic as I remember older versions of this beer. Red wine all over. Vinegar acidity, but not overwhelming, goes back to red wine as the sourness breaks. Medium body. Well carbonated. Totally different from Oerbier.

On the same path as Belgian Dark Ale but obviously higher in alcohol with more character all around. The alcohol can be deceivingly hidden or very bold and in your face. Jul 13, 2011 · I'm hoping to brew something inspired by Oerbier Special Reserva with a couple (Brett?) strains isolated by Nick at The Yeast Bay (from a bottle I sent him). Apparently they are weak attenuators, but hopefully they still make some interesting flavors along with a 3942.
