The Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV) is an enhanced version of, and a replacement for, the older Outer Tactical Vest (OTV) component of the Interceptor multi-threat body armor system, as fielded by the United States Army beginning in the mid-2000s.

The IBA system consists of its core component: the outer tactical vest (OTV), which can optionally be worn with a throat protector, groin protector, and biceps (or deltoid) protector. The latter three auxiliary protectors are removable from the main vest, which can be worn alone.

Compatible with E-SAPI (Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert) and ESBI Side-SAPI plates, the IOTV IV also offers more protective coverage under the arms and the sides of the torso.

OTV provides fragmentation protection from conventional fragmenting munitions, multi-hit handgun bullet protection for 9mm, 124 gr., Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Remington projectile. OTV and SAPI together provide multi-hit small arms bullet protection from: NATO 7.62 x 51 mm M-80 Ball. Soviet 7.62 mm x 54 R Ball Type LPS; U.S. 5.56 mm M855 Ball.
