Nov 4, 2024 · Venus is the brilliant evening “star” now shining at magnitude -4 in the southwest at dusk. In early November—five months after its passage behind the sun at superior conjunction on June 4—Venus finally sets in a dark sky, after twilight ends.

Nov 1, 2024 · Look in the southeast at dusk on Nov. 1, closer to the south by Thanksgiving. Venus is also in the evening sky. Look low in the west-southwest at dusk, near the point of sunset.

Nov 3, 2024 · November’s night sky is set to dazzle stargazers with a lineup of rare and breathtaking astronomical events, including meteor showers, planetary conjunctions, and the year’s final supermoon.

Nov 5, 2021 · At dusk this week, the Jupiter-Saturn line in the southern sky tilts only mildly, as shown below. Look far to their lower right for bright Venus. As evening progresses, Venus sets and the tilt of the giants steepens.

This year’s November night sky brings the Beaver Moon—the fourth and final full Supermoon of 2024, as well as a great opportunity to see Jupiter through your telescope. While there is a chance you’ll see shooting stars—part of the Taurids and the Leonids, we don’t recommend bundling up for these as the bright Moon will obscure your view.
