Senlis Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis) is a Roman Catholic church and former cathedral in Senlis, Oise, France. It was formerly the seat of the Bishopric of Senlis, abolished under the Concordat of 1801, when its territory was passed to the Diocese of Beauvais.

With its portal of the Virgin, a masterpiece of 12th century Gothic sculpture, its remarkable south tower, of 13th century Gothic architecture, its transept facades, both of late Gothic, Notre-Dame de Senlis takes place among the most beautiful cathedrals in France!

La cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis est une cathédrale catholique romaine d'architecture gothique. C'est un monument situé dans le département de l’Oise à Senlis ( France ). La cathédrale a été le siège de l’ancien évêché de Senlis, aboli par le Concordat de 1801 .

Un édifice représentatif de toutes les périodes de l’architecture gothique. De dimensions relativement modestes, la cathédrale Notre-Dame a été commencée vers 1153 et était pratiquement achevée lors de la consécration de 1191. Elle sera profondément remaniée aux 13ème et 16ème siècles.

La cathédrale de Senlis est provisoirement fermée en raison d'un incendie survenu le 17 décembre 2023. Elle est en cours de réhabilitation et devrait être accessible au public à partir du 30 mars 2024.

Avec son portail de la Vierge, chef-d’œuvre de la sculpture gothique du XIIe siècle, sa remarquable tour Sud, d’architecture gothique du XIIIe, ses façades du transept, toutes deux du gothique finissant, Notre-Dame de Senlis prend place parmi les plus belles cathédrales de France !

Early Christianity associated with the mission and cult of Saint Rieul whose shrine was outside the Roman wall. Notre-Dame of Senlis replaced S-Rieul as principal church, becoming a cathedral at a date probably at the end of the 10th century when the 7th-century church on the site was replaced under bishop Eudes I (986-995).

Consecrated in 1191 and radically altered in the 13th and 16th centuries, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis bears witness to the evolution of the Gothic architectural style, from early to rayonnant and then flamboyant.
