Benigno "Ninoy" Simeón Aquino Jr., [c] QSC, CLH, KGCR [1][2][3][4] (/ əˈkiːnoʊ /, locally [bɛˌniːɡ.no ʔɐˈxiː.no]; November 27, 1932 – August 21, 1983) was a Filipino politician who served as a senator of the Philippines (1967–1972) and governor of the province of Tarlac (1963–1967).

Ninoy knew that the dictatorship could not be fought through parliamentary means alone. According to some accounts, Ninoy, who was the hacienda's first administrator, allowed NPA rebels to hide in its sugar cane fields.
