As it looks like being the last DSLR from Nikon and they seem to have put a lot into it, it suited me well as an upgrade from the D750 - which I liked a lot. The D780 may be my last Nikon as the Z8 and Z9 would be OTT for me.

Feb 4, 2024 · I have an SB-800 Speedlight, from long ago, and would like to use it on my two Nikon DSLR cameras - Df, and D780. On the Df, everything works fine. Unless I get the flash to work on my D780, I have to either use it on my Df, or buy a flash that is compatible with my D780. I have reset the flash, and tried anything that other people hinted at.

Dec 20, 2021 · I went D200-->D7200-->D780 and can't believe the differences I see w/my new body. I also just got my hands on the Sigma 14-24 f/2.8 ART lens (which barely beat out the Nikon version, for me) and can't wait to put that combo through its paces.

Jan 2, 2023 · I currently have a Fujifilm system, which I intend to sell and switch to Nikon. And as I said, I don't intend to buy any of the newer Z lenses in the foreseeable future as I intend to share equipment with someone else. Weight is not important, and as I mentioned, the Z 6 II with adaptor amounts to about the same as a D780 anyway.

Jan 22, 2022 · I've upgraded a couple of times and went FX not long ago with the D780, an amazing piece of kit which is a joy to use. Of course, I'm always looking to upgrade my lenses, too. I *love* Nikon's older D lenses like the 85mm f/1.4 D, the 80-200mm f/2.8 D ED, the 105mm f/2.8 D Macro (an absolute BEAST), etc. more than the newer G lenses.

Internet authorities and my local Samy’s rep think I’m delusional… but I appreciate the difference in images from the D810 as viewed on a 24” iMac screen.

Jan 13, 2024 · There is nothing wrong with the D780 low light AF performance, it's fine, just the D800 defies logic. I can barely see the AF target in very dim light and it can still lock. No AF assist of course. Surprising. Lesson to learn here is don't believe the spec sheet, it doesn't always add up to reality. On paper the D780 has superior low light AF
