Nov 19, 2024 · Nick, If you are registered with RBA you have another option: create your list selecting the "All forms" box which gives you a bit more leeway. I use this facility for my list and have, for example, ticked Ruddy Shelduck, which I, along with many other birders , am confident I have seen in a wild state.

Sep 21, 2005 · Red Grouse numbers are declining up on the north Staffs moors. I was at Swallow Moss earlier today and counted only four over a two hour period. There were plans to introduce them onto Cannock Chase but with the amount of disturbance up there it would never work.

May 23, 2007 · Though the bill looks thin, I guess it is just the angle the bird has it's neck at and as Nick says the backlighting. It seems too bulky in the body, the patterning on the mantle with the splotchy areas of black, rather than even dark-centered black feathers is better for Greenshank.

Sep 20, 2004 · The BTs are very capable of finding moss etc but if you want to give them a helping hand (like year 2) I purchased some nest builder,(its like cotton wool in a hanger -cost about £5) I helped by pulling smallish bits off and attatching them to bushes around the garden. When we took the box down for cleaning it was 90% of this.

Jul 12, 2003 · On Astley Moss we have seen pied wagtails, yellowhammers, cuckoos in flight pointed out to us by a local who knew his stuff ! red and grey legged partridges, and reed buntings. I even saw a linnet earlier in the year singing in a tree in Ardwich green !

Feb 26, 2025 · This round Cape Horn Argentina to Chile cruise seems to be getting more popular with birders - Nick Bray is on the Princess Cruiselines version at the moment with a Zoothera group and his reports have included a masatierra Petrel on deck and Antipodean Albatrosses following the ship.
