As Felix mentions, swapping the RSX to a different one (i.e. not another faulty 90nm) with a different identifier also requires SYSCON to be reprogrammed to accept it, or it won't boot. I think you never even get as far as video output, probably just beeps and light colour changes.

Jan 29, 2022 · Replacement RSX chips can be ordered from Ali Express and eBay. Make sure to check the model number of the RSX to identify the Nanometer of the dye. Also do not recommend doing this mod without BGA equipment and skills. So make sure to get it serviced by a professional BGA installer. If your PS3 has a working RSX chip, do not bother.

Jan 24, 2004 · Now as far as power and everything i've seen time's for the Rsx Type S to be around 6.1 and 14.8 and compared to the ITR 6.2 and 14.7 there basically identical as far as numbers go . Now I hope to god that they do make the Type R for the Rsx b/c i've heard rumors of 220 bhp and brembo brakes and recaro seats .

Then still do the resistor replacements and voltage mod (like the original orbis method) to accommodate the new GPU and then it should be running now

I'd like a head unit that looks good (flush) and has physical buttons or even a volume knob. Also a plus if the button lights can be red to match the rest of the interior LEDs. Any suggestions?
