The Narragansett People have seen many changes in their lands; however, their traditional culture has been passed down from generation to generation and is even stronger today. Narragansett Indian men and women have fought with honor in every war starting with the United States revolution.

The Narragansett Indian Tribal Historic Preservation Office (NITHPO) is a designated office of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. NITHPO is authorized to determine all matters on behalf of the Tribe with respect to historic preservation, Indian graves’ protection, and religious freedom and other relevant cultural matters.
