Nov 8, 2020 · This unprovenanced jar in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection dates to between c. 3450 to 3330 BCE. It is a particularly fine example of late Neqada II decorated ware, pottery made of fine marl clay and embellished with recurring motifs representing the Egyptian desert and Nilotic environment.

Red polished vessels with white painted decoration (known as white cross-lined ware or C-ware) represent Egypt’s oldest known tradition in painted pottery. The decoration on this bowl, painted after firing, features the sun on the side and a turtle on the bottom of the vessel.

Nov 11, 2022 · White cross-lined ware pottery 𓏠𓈖𓇋𓏋 is usually only found in Upper Egypt 𓇓, near Abydos 𓍋𓃀𓈋𓊖 and Naqada. I absolutely love this piece of pottery 𓏠𓈖𓇋𓏋 because the cute hippos𓌉𓏏𓃯𓏦 that are on it!

Sherd missing at one of the narrow extremities. Two crocodiles, seen in top view, are represented head to tail. They occupy most of the interior of the vessel. Their heads are lozenge-shaped and their bodies decorated with chevrons. Their legs are flexed and end with three-toed claws.
