This player, the NAD 515 truly is the bee's knees. I have compared it with the same system with a Panasonic player and a decent Sony player. Music is just so nice warm with pulsing out of my Boston Acoustics speakers through a Marantz amp. I have a vintage Radio Shack sub-woofer driving the bottom.

I am not going to try to put you to sleep with this review. My history of CD/Transport includes the Marantz CD 63, the CAL Icon, The Theta Jade and the Emotiva 3, Sony DVP-S7000. All pretty nice in there own way. I found the NAD to be a very nice little player for the money. I got mine for $135.00 at Ebay !

The NAD 515 sounded much smoother than the Sony with better detailing than the Philips. The NAD had superior imaging and presented a much better soundstage than either of the other units. It offers even better sonic characteristics than my single disc Philips unit with a more convenient multiple disc setup than my Sony offered.

The NAD 515 is a great cd player for around $400. Have seen it on the net for $385. I paid $425 plus tax locally for piece of mind from an older established midfi dealer.

NAD 514 is a good introduction into real Hi Fi (or even Hi End, if you please) but it gives you only a glimpse of it, since it honestly tries to bite more than it is capable of. But for that money, who dares to criticise?

I have had no problems at all and it is used daily, 2-24 hours a day for 4 years. Volume stays between 1/4 -1/2 open and never runs hot. Bass stays at 0 to -3, trebble at +3. I have a pair of KEF's and a Velodyne Sub. Most often used in video but at times with a super old NAD 515 CD. The 515 has been flawless for 21 years, that is another review.

I use my bp8b with Nad 917 preamp, Nad 916 (in bridge mode) An a Nad 515 cd player. I am very happy with the speakers, They play very well with my system, but I considering buying a more powerful amp.

(For the curious, I preferred the nad 515 myself, but they were all 'good' and way way more detailed than my agreeable but overmatched technics portable) So 5 stars for how it sounds and for the coolness of the company that makes
