The NAD sounded less warm and full but more precise prhqps than the Cambridge Audio it replaced. After the NAD’s pre and Power sections in combinations with components usually considered of at least one tier above (and considerable more expensive) than the NAD, it’s clear that the preamp section is ok.

NAD engineers, ponder this: if you are going to leave loudness circuitry out of your designs, then at least include meaningful tone controls. Five decibels of boost and cut is just about useless except for fine-tuning sound at high volume levels.

I just got the 114 and am very pleased with the sound. I use the NAD 515 as my source and the NAD 214 to power Boston Acoustic CR9s. System is very crisp with deep bass and detailed treble. For the money I am very happy!

Dec 7, 2018 · Forget the Stereophile hype--this is not NAD's finest product which for me remains the 3020. My main complaint with the 370 is a bright, etched and edgy quality in the treble which never existed with the 3020.

As for NAD tradition, sound before fancy looks or features. Paired with quality speakers you won't find nothing for less than 1K to sound like it. The bass is similar to my VTL IT-85, the soundstage is open and the midrange balance is sweet enough to make this amp a musicality king.
