The North American Bus Industries Metro 45C (introduced as the 45C-LFW) is a 45-foot low floor composite transit bus or "Compobus". The bus' composite body is made from a combination of fibreglass and vinyl-ester resin laminate. This results in a lightweight, one piece body.

The majority of CompoBuses produced were the 45-foot 45C models; [5] the primary advantage of the 45C was to offer the maximum capacity in a low-floor, two-axle transit bus while maintaining approximately the same weight (and drivetrain) as a conventional 40-foot bus.

The CTA’s CompoBus sported a modified paint scheme along with a new type of seating design. The paint scheme used red as a dominant color with a strip of white and blue near the base. The seats used on the bus were manufactured by Freedman Seating Company.
