Dec 12, 2022 · In 1982, the quarry was in serious debt, and they had to sell some of their assets in order to stay in business, and one of such asset was Mavis. Fortunately, the Fat Controller (Sir Charles Topham Hatt) came up with a deal that benefited all parties involved. He purchased Mavis himself and allowed the quarry to still use her.

Aug 12, 2023 · Until the 60s, the NWR mostly used loaned engines from the other railway. In the 70s, after the end of steam, these engines were rarely used as BR had a tight hold on them. The engines started to be cut up, but the North Western was able to buy a small number of them.

Derek is a Class 17 diesel and a character in The Sudrian Dozen. Derek visited Sodor a lot until he was purchased in 2006 and rebuilt at Crovan's Gate like BoCo was when he came to Sodor.
