Our network availability heat maps can help you make more informed decisions about where to connect. Our generation heat map shows where there is capacity to connect large-scale generation to our network. Our demand heat map shows where there is capacity for large-scale demand projects.

Our Network Availability Heat Maps indicate where network capacity already exists for our customers to connect new large-scale generation and demand without requiring significant network reinforcement. This map covers 132kV, 66kV, 33kV, 20kV and 11kV networks in Northern Powergrid’s Northeast and Yorkshire licence areas.

Northern Powergrid's Open Data Portal helps you discover more about our network and assets so you can make more informed decisions about your electricity supplies now and in the future.

The portraits are arranged chronologically starting with the Tudor collection on Floor 3 and ending with the newest additions to the Collection on Floor 0. A good way to start your visit is to take the lifts or escalator up to the beginning of the Collection. Exhibitions are on Floor 0 and Floor 2.

We currently have two different systems for our distribution network records; a VPN accessed GIS solution for our Yorkshire license area (which also contains limited asset attribute data) and a raster TIFF file download facility for our Northeast license area.

Feb 4, 2025 · Our Heatmaps Data (Generation) provides the most updated data and information on the generation associated with our EHV operational sites within both licence areas. The likelihood of connecting generation to an operational site without the need for reinforcement or other solutions is classified by a RED, AMBER, GREEN rating.
