An NPC Flag designates the home of the NPC shown on the flag. It is only visible while the housing interface is active. These flags can be placed out of the housing menu into any suitable home.

NPC's flag will "hook" directly above the home tile. One can easily find the home tile by locating the central column of the 3×3-tile area that the NPC's flag occupies, and then moving all the way down to the tile in the floor of the house.

After very minimal poking around I have found the flag cares about a few things: if there’s anything on the walls, floor, and where the chair (maybe all the furniture?) is located. Moving those around has let me move the flag into a few different spots, but never right where I want it.

Aug 29, 2015 · To get your NPC to inhabit the selected house, simply move so that both the NPC and the house are no longer in your screen view (go a little further) and after a while if you return they will have occupied the house.

A bitmask that represents what NPC flags the creature has. Each bit controls a different flag and to combine flags, you can add each flag that you want, in effect activating the respective bits.

Jan 15, 2017 · I'd like to see the NPC flag in their room all the time, instead of when I'm in the NPC housing menu. Does anyone know how to do this? Seems odd that you'd be able to turn the flags on permanently on Xbox but not PC.

Dec 9, 2016 · It appears that people have found that this flag is linked to where the Sleeping Angler is. From this forum: It's a symbol that shows when the angler is sleeping and if you look you'll see it's right above the angler! But when you wake the angler up it disappears!
