
Most common OPA and NPA sizes? - EMTLIFE
Oct 2, 2010 · Hello, quick question. I once read a thread somewhere, maybe here, maybe another forum, which mentiomed that certain sizes are most common and can be quick go-to numbers to grab. Hopefully someone can share that knowledge with me since I can't remember, and I'd like to know as a reference. Sorry if my spelling is off, typing n my phone.

Sep 7, 2009 · When I took my EMT boards, we had everyone from my class there and a few from others. In our airway station we made the insertion of the NPA and the proctor asked us "If your patient for whatever reason could not tolerate insertion in the right nare, show me how you would insert the NPA in the left nare".

Aug 14, 2011 · To me its simply that using both gives you a bigger airway to deliver more tidal volume over less time. Using and NPA alone may still leave the tongue to obstruct the oral cavity when you toss in an OPA with the NPA it gives you two holes for the air to flow through. NPA Bevel In-or-Out - EMTLIFE
Dec 28, 2012 · It would seem to me that with the bevel facing towards the septum the NPA would more easily conform to the shape of the nasal cavity. If the bevel were facing opposite the septum, then the tip may tend to fold towards itself slightly kinda like a door, thus increasing friction to air flow. :unsure:
