Steam is great on the Nickel Plate/replication?
Mar 21, 2025 · One was NKP 170 and the other was SLSF 4-8-2 #1522. An inspection was made, and the engines were both found to be in about the same condition, and both were deemed restorable. Supposedly, the Frisco engine was ultimetly chosen over #170 account of higher tractive effort (56,800 for the 1522 vs. 42,000 for the 4-6-4).

Dec 13, 2007 · NKP Hudson #170 at MofT could stand-in for sister 171 and there are six existing Berks that could take 751's spot, with #765 at Ft. Wayne presently operational. Monon boxcars exist at Linden, Indiana and ITM in Noblesville, although neither carry the "white stripe/The Hoosier Line" paint scheme.

Mar 16, 2025 · The reason was the museum at the time was smaller (read more cramped) than it is now, and the administrator then had a goal of getting examples of wheel arrangements. By this time NKP 170 was already there representing 4-6-4s, and thus an NYC engine would have been considered a duplicate for which there was no room.

Mar 28, 2025 · the first candidate for that I'm interested in NKP 170 because it's light, mainline worthy, it's a super power design, it has roller bearings on all axles, and it's a hudson. Second one - N&W 578 Third one - EJ&E 2-8-2 765 I don't know what is the condition of these locomotives but I wonder does anyone know?
