The Motor Coach Industries D4000 is an intercity and commuter motorcoach. It was introduced as the 102-D3 and was renamed to follow the naming conventions established with the launch of new coaches in 2001.

New Jersey Transit 7401-8990 were 2000-2003 Motor Coach Industries buses. The order of 1,375 buses represents a mix of the D4000 and D4500 models, which were the first 45-foot buses in revenue for NJ Transit. The original three demo buses were 7501-7503, which were the 102-DW3SS model from MCI.
