The Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC) was opened in April 1999. Our aim is to be the preferred provider of quality-assured DNA and protein-based therapeutics for healthcare, academic and commercial customers seeking to establish the safety and efficacy of innovative cellular and molecular therapies.

The Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC) has over 20 years of experience manufacturing molecular therapies. We have extensive experience producing DNA plasmids and recombinant proteins and now offer viral vectors (both lentiviral and adeno-associated viral).

The NHSBT Hub functions within CBC and supports early phase academic-led gene therapy trials and facilitates the provision of cost-effective viral vectors to stimulate the UK’s gene therapy sector.

Our Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC) has been manufacturing GMP-grade molecular therapeutics for over 20 years. As well as supporting early phase clinical trials, we can provide quality control, importation and batch release testing.

The NHSBT Gene Therapy Hub is part of the Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC). The CBC has been manufacturing GMP-grade DNA plasmids for over 20 years, and brings their wealth of expertise and experience transferring manufacturing processes to GMP compliance to the Innovation Hubs network.
