NFP Health launched in late 2012 to meet the opportunity provided by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The founding team members, who had many years of experience building and operating private and public exchanges, had a clear vision: build a market-leading premium billing platform for states looking to launch their own exchanges in the fall of 2013.

In the fall of 2017, NFP Health launched the Massachusetts Health Connector SHOP exchange as a result of a unique partnership between DC Health Link and the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority (CCA).

In the fall of 2021, NFP Health launched a replacement SHOP exchange for the State of California (Covered California for Small Business). We provided the State with a front-end eligibility and enrollment portal and back-end premium billing to support the Exchange.

NFP Health supports the Individual and SHOP exchanges for the State of New Mexico (beWellnm). beWellnm hired NFP Health to replace its existing SHOP vendor in 2018. A complete end-to-end SHOP solution was built and launched in three months.
