Best NES JRPG...by today's standards? - Giant Bomb
I don't think there are any good NES JRPGs. The first really good Final Fantasy game was 4, and that was on the SNES. I just can't imagine there being any decent JRPGs on the system due to the hardware limitations and lack of space on the NES cartridges.

Obviously, some games are going to diverge a bit. Some of these games will have more real-time combat; some will have a very small party; some won't actually be from Japan. Those issues will be addressed. But I feel there is a distinct difference between JRPGs and everyone elses, hence why we refer to them as JRPGs!

Aug 9, 2011 · Another Tri-Ace game, and happens to be one of my favourite PSX JRPGS. The Shadow Hearts Series (PSX, PS2) I really did not enjoy Koudelka and I only kinda enjoyed Shadow Hearts, but Shadow Hearts: Covenant is one of the best PS2 JRPGs. Grandia Series (PSX, PS2, DC, PC) Grandia 1 is my favourite game in the series, but all three are worth playing.

Pokemon is an rpg that was made in Japan.
