The sixth season of the police procedural drama NCIS premiered on September 23, 2008, and ended on May 19, 2009, on CBS.

An agent of the NCIS dies in an execution-style shooting; Gibbs and company investigate. A radioactive painting provides clues, and an impostor federal agent causes trouble, but Gibbs and Tony, on horseback, and the others break the case.

The body of a Marine leads Gibbs and McGee to the NCIS OSP division in Los Angeles, where a murder investigation quickly climbs to a matter of national security in which the two offices must work together to resolve. Meanwhile, Tony begins to snoop into Ziva's personal life.

NCIS Season 6 premiered on September 23, 2008 and ended on May 19, 2009. This season also introduced the characters for the first ever NCIS spin-off series, NCIS: Los Angeles who appeared in Legend Part 1 (episode) and Legend Part 2 (episode).
