May 29, 2024 · My car is a 2012 F30 335i (N55), it has about 99,300 miles. After 7-8 years, the PCV/CCV on these cars will usually fail. The failure is due to the thin orange plastic membrane under the PCV/CCV cap, which is at the top of the Engine Valves Cover.

Nov 25, 2021 · If this sounds like you, probably a bad PCV (in particular, the rubber diaphragm). Local BMW shop (non-stealership) quoted me at around $1500 to replace the entire valve cover as the PCV valve is built into the valve cover.

Sep 18, 2020 · N55 has a built in pcv valve that goes bad. If you have this noise or similar, remove oil cap while engine is on and noise is happening. If the noise goes away instantly once you remove the cap then the pcv valve is bad.

Feb 23, 2022 · So I had a repair shop replace the entire valve cover and gasket on my 2011 N55. When replacing it, the new one immediately failed, so they had another one put on (all being ordered directly from the local dealership).

There have seen several articles concerning N55 PCV replacement using the Russian supplied PCV valve. All talk about cutting/sawing the old PCV valve from the valve cover. When this is done the dimensions for the PCV valve to valve cover are altered and the PCV system will not work as designed.

Pelican Parts thinks not and suggests only the valve cover gasket and the eccentric shaft actuator gasket needs replacement.. Question 2 - Pelican parts sells aftermarket PCV valves which can be installed into the original valve cover.
