What's the difference between N52/N52K/N52B30M1 engine?
Nov 5, 2014 · Running a VIN check at bmwarchiv.org, my car comes back as saying it has a N52B30M1 - 3,00l (172kW) engine, and has a production date of 18.02.2008. It also says mine is a type NU53. So I've gotten somewhere, but confused somewhat. I guess NU53 does not refer to the N52 of the engine type.

Apr 21, 2022 · This thread is all about the N52 engine. Any forced induction engine is super easy to make more power with. An increase of boost, a downpipe, an intercooler, and even a different fuel all contribute to major changes in power. A friend of mine has a 2011 135i (N55 engine) with all the basic bolt-on goodies and makes somewhere around 380 WHP.
The 51 engine uses a lower compression ratio and accordingly uses a different piston design. The N52KP uses the same design as the N52 engine. The connecting rods on all of the NG engines have been stiffened with a thicker beam on the rod. This design has also been in production since the N52 (6/06). The connecting rods are weight optimized

May 4, 2011 · Visually the N51 and N52 are identical. The easiest way to identify which engine you’re dealing with is to take a look at the vehicle emissions plate under the hood. You’ll notice the relevant info on the left-hand side of the plate in the third row. N52 will be marked as LEV, while the N51 carries a SULEV tag.

This is the upper shell of the bearing. The Crankshaft has numbers that corresponds to a color. These are for lower shell. ( the bearings installed on the bedplate.

While visiting the parents over the holidays, my dad made an offhand comment to the effect that the VANOS system is fraught with problems. I am assuming his comment was based upon his experience with his 1994 540i.

Jan 5, 2023 · You have to drive the engine at higher rpm to allow them to adjust properly-N52 engines made before 2008 have a flawed design that will not push sufficient oil up to the top of the engine. This can cause a ticking sound.-One solution is to run the engine at a higher RPM for at least 15min. This will help the oil circulate throughout the engine.
