N2pc - Wikipedia
N2pc refers to an ERP component linked to selective attention. [1] The N2pc appears over visual cortex contralateral to the location in space to which subjects are attending; if subjects pay attention to the left side of the visual field, the N2pc appears in the …
The N2pc component and its links to attention shifts and spatially ...
The N2pc component is typically elicited at post-stimulus latencies of 200 to 350 ms at posterior electrodes contralateral to the side of a visual search target that is presented among non-target items.
The N2pc Component in Studies of Visual Attention
Feb 2, 2023 · N2pc has also found applications in the study of attention in people with various mental and physical disorders. This article reviews the literature on the nature and properties of the negative deviation of the N2pc event-related potentials.
Individual Differences in Working Memory and the N2pc - PMC
The N2pc has been shown to be an effective electrophysiological marker of attentional object selection when presented with a visual search task, reflecting selection of a target item among distractors (Luck and Hillyard, 1994a,b; Eimer et al., 2011).
The N2pc component as a neural index of early attention …
Recent evidence from event-related potentials (ERPs) has identified N2 posterior contralateral (pc) amplitudes as a neural marker of early attention allocation. The N2pc has been used to evaluate attention biases (ABs) in samples with anxiety-based problems, but its utility has yet to be considered …
Further Evidence That N2pc Reflects Target Enhancement Rather …
The N2-posterior-contralateral (N2pc) component is an index in the domain of event-related potentials for exploring the underlying mechanism of visual-spatial attention. It has been disputed whether the attentional selection reflected by N2pc is ...
The N2pc Component in Studies of Visual Attention - ResearchGate
Feb 1, 2023 · The N2pc (negative 200 posterior contralateral) occurs when a stimulus prompts a shift in attention [11], such as might occur when a prey target enters the field of vision. It occurs during early...
The N2pc component and its links to attention shifts and spatially ...
Oct 26, 2007 · The N2pc component has recently become a popular tool in attention research. To investigate whether this component exclusively reflects attentional target selection or also prior stages in attentional processing (covert orienting, target-unspecific spatial attention), a spatial cuing procedure was combined with a visual search task.
The N2pc component as an indicator of attentional selectivity
Sep 1, 1996 · According to Luck and Hillyard (1994a), the N2pc may reflect the selective activity of striate or extrastriate cortex that is under the control of feedback from higher areas. The N2pc is not only elicited by pop-out items, but also by targets that have to be detected on the basis of conjunctive features (cf. Luck et al., 1993).
Attention selection, distractor suppression and N2pc
Jul 1, 2009 · N2pc is generally interpreted as the electrocortical correlate of the distractor-suppression mechanisms through which attention selection takes place in humans. Here, we present data that challenge this common N2pc interpretation.
