Housed within the reconstructed Ostrogski Palace, itself a building with a complicated and fascinating history, the Chopin Museum is an appropriately comprehensive multimedia engagement with Poland’s famous composer.

Housed in the majestic Gniński Palace, this four-story museum exhibits Chopin's life and work in great detail. The Chopin Museum in Warsaw is home to an extensive collection of the composer's personal belongings and musical materials.

The museum is housed in the 17th-century city palace designed by Tielman van Gameren that is also home to the Chopin Association and the Chopin Institute. The collection consists of around 7000 objects, including manuscripts, letters, photos, jewelry and graphics.

Initially its offices were located at 15 Zgoda St. in Warsaw. In 1953 the Institute was relocated to Ostrogski Castle at 1 Okolnik St., and the Castle also became the home of the museum, the library and the collections of photographs and recordings.

Reopened in 2010 to celebrate the Year of Chopin, The Fryderyk Chopin Museum is Poland’s most important institution dedicated to commemorate Fryderyk Chopin, and at the same time, the most innovative biographic museum in Europe.

In the week leading up to the anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin's birth, we cordially invite you to a series of special events organized at the Chopin Museum in Warsaw (1 Okólnik St.). There will be art classes, as well as an educational concert and piano recitals.
