Mar 23, 2010 · If you are running rocky rivers, get a jet. If you are running mud, brush, and vegetation, get a mud motor. I often run my mud motor in rocky rivers to get to the large marshes I hunt, they DO NOT run nearly as well or as shallow as a jet boat on a tunnel boat. But... if you try to take that jet engine in mud or weeds, you are dead in the water.

Jul 2, 2016 · Re: Homemade 13HP longtail (mad mud motor plans) Thanks for the replies guys, I plan on using weld in nuts and 1/4 20 bolts with fender washers same as I did for the cavitation plate, I have it so it hooks on one side and bolts on the other but I think I'm going to make it bolt on both sides if anything for ease of removal.

Jul 2, 2018 · Briggs says 5-30 has the widest temp ranges. You can run royal purple, it's expensive, but there are others just as good for much cheaper. I would get any decent 5-30 and not think twice about it. My gravely lawnmower gets motor craft and I've never had an issue.

May 13, 2018 · First off, the motor is on an 18x48 crawfish skiff that is decked out. Two storages in the front, built in gas tank, hydroturf, etc. I also have 5 coats of gator base and 5 coats of gatorglide on the boat. I ran it first stock out of lake long. The best speeds I was able to hold was 32 in shallow water and 33 in the intracoastal.

Dec 9, 2015 · Guys I have a few questions for you. My predator mud buddy swap turned out great. I am now however running into issues where my motor cuts right off after about 30 to 45 Seconds of running on plane. I am not sure if this is a fuel related issue or possibly a low oil shut off issue even though the oil is within spec.

Jul 27, 2018 · The best analogy I could give you would be the difference between long tube headers and shorties. Shorties give you a gain over stock because of less restriction, but if you want the most out of a performance motor, you will opt for longtubes, because they have longer primaries, hence why performance cars run longtubes.

Nov 3, 2014 · Deep water speed was a respectful 18 mph but there was a LOT of vibration at the handle. I expected that as the engine is not mounted to anything but a pin holding it to the transom mount. I didn't buy the engine for running this little lay out boat across the lake. I bought it to get to places that my other mud boat won't go.

Sep 26, 2017 · power trim won't hold it down. you'll still have to lift. part of having a mudmotor. the motor has to be allowed to kick up when you hit submerged stuff or things start breaking. lengthen the handle to give you more leverage if you need to. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor

Feb 25, 2017 · motor 38 lbs total 82 lbs 2. transom mount- although the backwater has a great mount, for my application and a small 6.5 hp engine i wanted simple and light, and although the mount on the backwater is very well engineered, for the application of a small rig and motor it is unneccesary in my opinion when adding the xtra weight.
