However humans have bred jumbo coturnix to be over 400 grams, and some bobwhite breeds like the Butler can apparently get well over a pound.

Apr 1, 2021 · Incubation period for Mountain quail is 24 to 26 days, the norm being 26 days. They are a little more demanding in the care and rearing of the young. Temperature of the brooder is more critical than with other quail species...too warm/hot and they tend to get pasty butt easily...at least in my experience with raising the chicks.

Feb 20, 2023 · That's kinda on the small size for those quail. Mountain quail are the largest of the 'New World' quail. They require a little bit more attention than other species of quail. Young hatchlings are prone to pasty butt. Require a 24% protein feed ration. Mine are not flighty but can't just pick them up either!
