This is the hardest route to the summit of Mount Abrupt, located just north of the town of Dunkeld in western Victoria. The trail begins from a landslide on Grampians Road, just before the Mount Abrupt Carpark. The track is brutally steep from the beginning and winds up a gully to the Mud-Dadjug campsite.

Since 16 December 2024, several bushfires have impacted large parts of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park including the Serra, Mount William and Victoria Ranges, Victoria Valley, Wallaby Rocks and central corridor areas.
