The Mouflon, also known as urial, is a wild sheep found in many parts of the world and are widely regarded as the ancestor of modern-day domestic sheep, a process that started between 7000 – 11,000 years ago in the southwestern regions of Asia.

The Mouflon (Ovis musimon) is thought to be one of the two ancestors for all modern sheep breeds. It is reddish-brown with a dark back-stripe, light colored saddle patch and underparts. The males are horned and the females are horned or polled.
