The China Motor Bus MCW Metrobus numbered ML1 was the first ever tri-axle MCW Metrobus built by Metro-Cammell Weymann, in their Birmingham UK factory. It was also one of 2 prototypes before full production of the ML class for China Motor Bus.

These photographs show former China Motor Bus MCW Metrobus ML1, now in preservation in Australia, and restored to it's former glory. The photographs were taken in Sydney on 26th January 2007, Australia Day, when it was used on a special shuttle service along with a selection of other preserved buses.

In 1981, first 3-axle double-decker (ML1) for CMB arrived. CMB was satisfied with the performance of its Super Metrobuses and finally another 83 (ML2-84) joint the fleet subsequently.

1981 MCW Metrobus MkII CMB ML1, registration CM8935. After ML1 (CM8935) retired from NWFB, it was purchased by City Sightseeing with ML2 and dozens of other MLs, and was shipped to Australia as part of the local tour bus fleet.
