Aug 27, 2020 · IMO decent ARs haven’t changed much since @sinister helped develop the DMR system(s) almost 20 years ago. I have ARs from 12.5” to 20” and have had 24”. 18” is a happy medium and I can and do take the “dated” mk12 mod0 to 1k. 300-500 is where it really shines IMO, with 600-750 doable when conditions (wind) dictate.

Jun 10, 2011 · I have a Mk12'ish replica (primary difference is the 20" barrel instead of 18") and it was a very easy "hitter" at 650-700yd, got tougher at 800-850 and my longest hits were out around 1150 with it. That was REALLY stretching it though under optimal conditions.

Aug 4, 2023 · Ended up with a MK12 Mod H ish build on a LH Stag upper and I prefer it over more “modern” setups I’ve owned. Lower has ambi safeties but not full ambi controls. My biggest piece of advice is try a traditional 2-by scope over a LPVO. 600-700 223 shots are all about reading the wind, and I “see” down range so much better on my NF 2.5 ...

Aug 18, 2022 · I like the sopmod a lot, but I ended up moving it to my Ruger SR-556e with acog on top. Works great there as a dmr kind of setup. My mk12's both have a2's on them now. On the mod 1, I drilled the stock and epoxied in a grovetec threaded flush cup for the sling. I placed the flush cup in about the same position as the KAC m110 stock's cup.

Oct 18, 2021 · I modernized my MK12 mod0 clone a few years ago with a URX4 and Bushnell LRHS 3-12. This past year I upgraded to. MK5 3.6-18 and really like it. The MK5 is shorter, has more magnification and is the about the same weight. Perfect SPR optic as far as I’m concerned. NF ATACR 4-16 or S&B Ultra Short would also be awesome for sure!

Jan 31, 2018 · There are only three truly correct optics for a Mk12. The first Kirby mentioned was a late change on the Mod 1 and Mod H. Mod 0 started with the same optic as the M110, which was the Leupold 3.5-10x40, except the Mk12 was a black scope. Crane very quickly moved to the TS30A2, which is the Leupold model 112633, 2.5-8x36 mm.
