Although Jamaica started competing at the Miss Universe Pageant in 1961, the Miss Universe Jamaica pageant officially started in 1982 and was organised by Ed Wallace to select the official representative.

Jamaica sent its first representative to Miss World in 1959. To date Jamaica has now garnered four Miss World titles (1963, 1976, 1993, and 2019).
