The only Mini-30 magazines worth a dang besides the factory ones are KCI 30 rounders. They are not only as good as factory mags, they are way better.

Dec 20, 2012 · I have a brand new #584xxxx series Ruger Mini 14, I bought about a month ago that jams about ever 5-10 rounds with 30 or 20 rnd ProMag magazines ( bought 2-30 round, & 2-20-round ProMag magazines)... HOWEVER, shoots trouble free with Ruger factory magazines.... (came with a 5 round, & I bought 2-30 round, & 1-20 round Ruger magazines)

Feb 16, 2025 · I'm using the Ruger Mini-14 factory 20-round magazines and the metal Pro-Mag 20 and 30-round magazines. (Zero issues with the Pro-Mags btw). I use the GI spoons made by GGG. They may not fit as securely as on a standard P-mag, but both the specific Ruger factory and aftermarket magazines mentioned have the grooves for the GI spoon to slide onto.

Jan 14, 2022 · Many years ago, I traded for a used 580 series Mini 14 that was mint---it included several 10 and 20 rd aftermarket mags as well as three Ruger factory 10 rd mags---the previous owner told me the non-factory mags were only somewhat reliable.

Jan 16, 2013 · I have a new Mini 14 tactical I bought about a month ago. I have a 20 rd and a 10 rd ruger mag for it. I know the ruger mags work good. But when I look at the mag they don't seem very well made. What mag from which company work as well or better then the ruger mags and also look and feel well made.

Jun 21, 2018 · Yet I have a couple of old magazines by Ram-Line marked Mini-14, AR-15 that work fine if both ARs and Mini-14s. So it is not only possible to make a dual use mag but Ram-line made them. This is probably why some folks think AR mags will work in a Mini-14. I haven't tried it but I'll bet a bit of Dremel work could "convert" poly AR mags to Mini ...

Apr 23, 2011 · Magazine catch tab difference between 5rd/20rd & 10rd magazines I had the same problem. Just received a Ruger factory-made 10rd magazine for my Mini-14. I cannot seat the magazine easily, if at all. I don't have this problem with my 5rd and 20rd magazines, both of which are as old as my "series 182" Mini-14, which I bought brand new in JUL 1981.

Apr 4, 2017 · As others have pointed out, it is unlikely MagPul makes Mini-14 mags (and AR mags don't work in a Mini) Some have had some success with P-Mags, but by and large, the most reliable mags for the Minis are the Ruger factory mags (predominantly 20 rounders). Anything else may require some adjusting of the feed lips or other fixes.
