Giancarlo Minardi (born 18 September 1947) is the founder and managing director of the now-defunct Minardi Formula One team.

Minardi was an automobile racing team and constructor. It was founded in 1979 by Giancarlo Minardi. It competed in the Formula One World Championship from 1985 until 2005. The team was headquartered in Faenza, Italy. They had little success, but acquiring a loyal group of fans. In 2001 the team was nearly out of money, and was about to shut down.

The Team is born… the legend of Minardi begins. From 1972 up to that moment-we are in 1979- Gian Carlo Minardi had managed teams and racing cars which bore the names of other owners: first the Scuderia del Passatore and then the Scuderia Everest S.r.l.

Minardi was a Formula One team who raced between 1985 and 2005, competing in nearly 350 races, and due a well-known low budget, did not achieve a single podium. Overall, they scored just 38 points.
