May 25, 2020 · What happens is every time the firing pin 'finds its way' through the firing pin hole in the frame, it disturbs the metal of the frame a tiny bit. Eventually, a burr gets raised around the firing pin hole. Colt solved this problem over 100 years ago by pressing a hardened steel bushing into the recoil plate.

Jun 25, 2015 · He states the frame of a WInchester Model 1866, manufactured in 1868 was tested and the alloy was found to be 80% copper, 14.5% tin, 2% zinc, and .5% lead. He does not state what method was used to test the alloy. Regarding 'wearing out' an Uberti brass framed rifle, it is not so much a matter of wear as it is the metal stretching.

Mar 20, 2025 · Comparing your two photos above, one of a 66 and then the next photo of your 1860, I can see the bevel cut in the frame is a very different angle and size. good luck, GJ Then the next bevel to check is the one at the TOP of the window (mortise) cut in the frame. Which is covered by the carrier in both of these pictures.

The law typically reads something like any firearm thats metal frame, barrel, slide melts below xxx degrees F is illegal. This wording excludes the wood and plastic.

Asked. Will a Pietta 60 Army grip frame fit a Colt SAA 3rd gen?
Oct 7, 2019 · Well, the best I could. Here is my second generation Colt SAA made in 62 with the grip frame off of my new Cimarron Eliminator 8 that is 60 Army size. It actually fit with little effort. I even used the Pietta screws. I didn't torque the screws down. But all would have. The metal fit was close all around the edges.
