An Introduction to MCL1 - Tripod
MCL1 is known by many names: Modified Chest Lead, Marriott's Chest Lead, and Modified Central Lead. In MCL1, the positive electrode is in the 4th intercostal space (IC space), right sternal border and the negative electrode is on the left arm.
A Different Approach to Cardiac Monitoring - JEMS
Jun 30, 2010 · MCL-1 is the best lead for differentiating V-tach from SVT with bundle branch blocks. You can immediately tell right from left ventricular ectopy. In most cases, right and left BBB can be...
Lead MCL1 - SkillStat
Einthoven’s three lead system is the most commonly used three lead cardiac monitoring system today. Some centers, though, choose to use a modified central lead (MCL1) as part of the three lead system. This is sometimes also referred to as the modified chest lead.

Oct 1, 1991 · To compare the modified precordial leads MCL 1 and MCL 6 with the conventional precordial leads V 1 and V 6 and assess the diagnostic accuracy of selected leads for continuous bedside electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring, 121 wide QRS complex tachycardias were recorded from 92 patients during cardiac electrophysiologic study. As ascertained ...

Oct 1, 1991 · An interval of ≤ 50 ms from the onset of the QRS complex to the predominant peak (or nadir) indicated supraventricular tachycardia; an interval of ≥ 70 ms indicated ventricular tachycardia. The QRS complexes in leads MCL 1 and MCL 6 were comparable to those in leads V 1 and V 6 during sinus rhythm.
Sep 27, 2004 · 1 is the single best lead for diagnosing dysrhythmias; MCL1 is a substitute for V1 which can be recorded from 3 lead-wire patient cables. MCL1 is very similar to, but not identical to, pattern seen in V1 precordial lead.

The modified central lead, called MCL 1, is established with the cardiac monitor set to lead I, with the white electrode a negative polarity, the black electrode a positive polarity (the red electrode serves as the ground).

To determine the value of MCL1 and MCL6, 81 morphologically distinct wide QRS ectopic beats were recorded from 46 patients during cardiac electrophysiological study. As determined by the His-bundle electrogram, 31 of the ectopics were aberrant supraventricular, 50 were ventricular.
