(MCL1) – The modified central lead is created by placing the positive electrode at the 4th intercostal space just to the right of the sternum and the negative electrode below the left clavicle near the shoulder. The ground electrode (red) electrode can be placed anywhere on the body.

MCL1 is known by many names: Modified Chest Lead, Marriott's Chest Lead, and Modified Central Lead. In MCL1, the positive electrode is in the 4th intercostal space (IC space), right sternal border and the negative electrode is on the left arm.
