The MAZ-538 (Russian: МАЗ-538) is a heavy four-wheeled bulldozer which was designed and built in the Minskyi Avtomobilnyi Zavod from the 1955 to 1990 model years, used for the Soviet armed forces. It was preceded by the prototype MAZ-528.

A 2-axle rear engined tractor MAZ_528 was the first military prototype created in design department SKB-1 in November 1955. It was equipped with a two-stroke 6-cylinder diesel engine YAZ-206 with a capacity of 165 hp and units of YAZ-210 truck with a 5-speed gearbox.

THE FIRST FOUR-AXLE VEHICLE
The first four-axle vehicle was designed with the axle configuration 8x8, MAZ-535. MAZ-535 was designed for transportation of artillery systems, up to 10 tons weight. The development of this vehicle was the real scientific and technical revolution in the USSR automotive industry.
