Oct 26, 2023 · The former County Tyrone missionary Maud Kells, who spent decades training nurses in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has died at the age of 84.

It’s with great sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of missionary and MAF’s friend Maud Kells OBE who died yesterday at the age of 84, following a short illness. A dedicated servant of God, Maud gave 54 years of her life to improving health and education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Oct 29, 2023 · Maud Kells, from Cookstown, Co Tyrone, was a missionary midwife in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for decades, travelling there nearly every year since 1968. Ms Kells survived being shot at her home in the town of Mulita in January 2015.

Oct 27, 2023 · Crying out to God, she prayed: "'Lord, are you taking me now?...‘I’m ready to go, Lord. But there are a few things I’d like to finish off on earth before I go.'" The Lord answered and honoured that cry. She continued to serve him post her recovery. Maud was awarded an OBE from Prince William. She’s with Jesus now, which is far, far better.
