Martin Parr CBE (born 23 May 1952) is a British documentary photographer, [3] photojournalist and photobook collector.

Parr has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1994 and was president from 2013 to 2017. In 2013, he was also appointed the visiting professor of photography at the University of Ulster.

In his 1989 photograph, Martin Parr makes a humorous and candid portrayal of a tourist observing the Eiffel Tower. The tourist cranes his neck and squints grotesquely as he peers, through the lens of his camera, up at the underbelly of the iconic structure.
